Ringing in a New Year

Today is New Years Eve. It's the end of an old year and the start of a new one, 2010. The end of 2009, starting in August, was one big blur. College started off and to me everything was so overwhelming. I lived a life where fashion and real food didn't exist, and my whole being was forced to be dedicated to school. It was like a nightmare, but less cynical. There were a few things that I learned a long the way, very vital things in my case. First, never walk to school in the dying heat, unless you like walking into class like a sweaty pig. Don't ride you're bike, and pretend to be a pro a if you're not. You'll end up making a fool of yourself and falling on your ass. (Ahem, not saying that I did.) If you're taking you're car, good luck finding parking. The safest and less hazardous way is to ride the bus, it's free. Second, try to stay healthy. I know it's difficult trying to cook you're own food, but just because you can't cook doesn't mean you have to buy junk food. And try not to eat every time you're bored, that's how you'll pack on the pounds. And last, but not least, study study study. Even when you know you really don't have to, it will definitely help. So now that a new year is coming a new semester will follow, and hopefully the transition will be a little bit better. 2009 was also the year that my niece, Emily Mae, was born.  She's brought so much joy and happiness to our family. Emily is the light of our life. I thank God for a good year, and another one to come. So Happy New Years! Bring it on 2010! Here's a small look back at 2009.

Our girls powerlifting team won 1st at Regional's and 1st again at State.   For Regional's I came in 3rd and for State I came in 2nd.

New Consultant

Okay well my profits have been very low, and I’m now on a tight budget.  Sad, I know.  But my mom was recently a new consultant for Scentsy.  It’s this company that makes and sells warmers with different fragrance bars.  You don’t have to have a candle smell burning in your house, but with this new Scentsy warmer you have  a lovely smell with out the ugly scent of candle.  Anyways, she told me I should try to sell some too, and I just became a new Scentsy Consultant! Volunteering

Well I was out this past Tuesday doing some volunteering under the I10 Bridge with a local church, helping to serve Thanksgiving dinners to the homeless nearby.  It was a very unique, and inspiring experience.  All of the nearby people came out to eat and they thanked us for doing such a kind act.  I also learned that not every homeless person was lazy or a drunk, but I learned that different hardships had crushed and terminated their past lives.   My heart reached out to them.  I wouldn’t mind doing things like this more often.  But here are a few pictures that I took.

Finally, A Break!

Check out my new miniature Christmas tree.  I know that Thanksgiving is the holiday that is coming up, but I couldn’t wait to put up my special tree.  It’s my first very own Christmas tree and I’m proud that I decorated it.  It looks really cute.  Aside from my tree I’m glad that Thanksgiving break is right around the corner, it’s practically tomorrow.  Not to mention that my birthday is on Thanksgiving as well, so awesome.  I really needed a break from school and all of the stress that comes with it.  I just need some family time and a good hearty meal.  Sounds delicious, much better than my watery soups and easy mac’s.  Yeah…I don’t have a place to cook a good meal.  Once I get re-energized with healthy food and family time I should be good and ready for finals….yikes!

Halloween was really fun! I spent lots of time with my niece Emily, she was a lady bug for the special occasion, and she was oh so cute.  I reverted back to my little kid ways for the day and trick-or-treated with my boyfriend and his family.  I spent the rest of the evening at his house celebrating his 20th birthday.  :) 

More Than I Can Chew

Okay well my first semester of school has officially taken off and I’m halfway through the first semester. Unfortunately my expectations of how well I’m supposed to be doing, aren’t going the way I planned.  I thought that five classes were going to be a breeze…well they aren’t.  I had to learn the hard way, I guess like we all do in our life, that I really have to put forth effort in my studies.  I was never used to that in high school because everything was so easy then.  So I’m struggling a little, I obviously bit off more than I can chew, but I’ve learned my lesson and I know what I need to be doing now.  For sure I’ll make it through I just have to think positive and everything will be alright in the end.  With Halloween coming up hopefully some stress will be removed.  I’m so excited to dress up; I am going to be Little Red Riding Hood.  I’ll make sure to take lots of pictures.  Thank God for weekends and candy!

First Day Jitters

As I stepped into my first college class a wave of vulnerability washed over me. I looked at the faces that stared back at me and I felt slightly intimidated and slightly exuberant at the same time. I quickly took a seat and wiped the sweat off of my forehead. It was extremely hot outside and I had to walk from my dorm to my class in the Texas heat. A few hours ago, as I was showering, I would have never really expected that I would feel this way. It felt like I was starting school all over again from the beginning, it was a really horrible feeling! As the class started I slowly began to breathe easily again. I felt stupid. Of course I knew that college was a big step, but that didn’t mean that I had to be scared of it. And we all know only the strong survive,at least that’s how I see it. And I will survive, I have the power and will to do great. By the end of the day I had realized that all of my classes were a breeze. Yeah I knew it was only the first day, but I could pull through because I’m me and I know what I have to do. :)
